Visitor Visas
New Zealand offers several types of visitor visas to accommodate the diverse needs of travellers. New Zealand visitor visa applicants must meet health and character requirements, provide a return ticket, and demonstrate sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay. Whether you’re planning a holiday, a business trip, or a working holiday, we can help you navigate the application process and ensure you obtain the correct visa for your purpose of visit.
Types of Visitor Visas
Tourist Visa
The standard New Zealand tourist visa allows you to visit the country for holidays, sightseeing, or visiting friends/family. The key permissions include:
- Single-entry or multiple-entry options available
- Single entry visa allows up to 9 months of stay in an 18-month period
- Multiple entry visa allows up to 6 months of stay in a 12-month period
- Permits study for up to 3 months, but no work is allowed
Business Visitor Visa
This visa is for those travelling to New Zealand to conduct business activities such as attending meetings, conferences, or negotiating contracts. The permissions include:
- Multiple entry visa that allows stays of up to 3 months at a time
- No work is permitted, only business-related activities
- Study for up to 3 months is allowed
NZeTA for Visa Waiver Countries
Visitors from certain countries can enter New Zealand without a traditional visitor visa, provided they obtain an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) before travel. The NZeTA is an electronic travel authority that allows pre-approved travellers to visit New Zealand for tourism or business purposes.
The NZeTA applies to passport holders from visa-waiver countries. To apply, you must submit an online application and pay the required fee of NZ$12 (mobile app) or NZ$9 (website).
Once you have your NZeTA, you can visit New Zealand for up to 90 days. Remember that the NZeTA is not a visa – it’s an electronic travel authority that verifies your eligibility to enter the country without a traditional visitor visa.
Visa Extensions
If you need to extend your stay in New Zealand beyond the initial visa duration, our immigration advisors can assist you with the application process. Typical reasons for needing a visa extension include:
- Your original travel plans have changed, and you need additional time
- You’ve applied for a different visa type that is still being processed
- You’ve encountered unexpected circumstances that prevent your timely departure.
Our experts can evaluate your situation, help you gather the required supporting documents, and submit the extension application on your behalf to Immigration New Zealand. This ensures the best chance of a successful outcome and minimises any disruption to your stay.
